Mexico [2010]
So my family and I went to an all-inclusive place for my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. Which means booze and food whenever you want it. Saw the pyramid at Chichen Itza, did some adventuring around a Mayan village and climbing a pyramid at Coba. All around a good time.
It's too bad you can't climb Chichen Itza anymore.
Before adventuring!
Momosa(s) in the morning!
Woot, a wonder of the world! So wonderful!
A cenote(underwater sinkhole) at Chichen Itza. ~150ft deep, scary but awesome
Mayan food!

Summer 2010

There is some exciting news. My family is going to Mexico for my grandparents anniversary. At first Alex and I weren't going, but now we are. Woot!
Also, Alex and I are going to Japan and China in August. That's the plan anyway.
I'm really sick of school/papers/reading boring shit. So I'm going to make a list of all the stuff I want to do this summer.
Summer 2010
Read:
The Uglies
Peeps
Sword of Truth Series
The Mockingjay
The Tales of the Beedle and the Bard
Deathly Hallows (getting pumped)
The Maze Runner
First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers
Seeing Red?
Swan Song?
The Stand?
Play(need to buy a mouse):
Final Fantasy XIII
Fallout 3
Mass Effect 2
Uncharted2(again to get moar trophies)
If anyone has any suggestions let me know! I like to keep it YA, post-apocalyptic, and dystopian. But you know, whatever is good.

Real life sucks....

Almost everyday I freak out about school/work/life. I'm wondering what if after all this, I have the MA after my name and on my resume and I still can't find a job. I'll be 80,000 in debt and unemployed. I'd like to think that it is very unlikely, but I still can't help thinking about it.
So yeah I found this:
KNOW WHAT EMPLOYERS WANT
So what are employers in international education looking for anyway? A standard list may include:
• Master’s degree in a related field
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness
• Previous experience living/working/studying abroad
• Strong organizational skills and administrative skills
• Excellent oral/written communication skills
• Second language capability
• Ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
• Working knowledge of federal immigration regulations
• Ability to travel
So I'm working towards getting all these qualifications. So its all good right? I really wanted to volunteer/intern abroad this summer, but the programs are so expensive. And since I have to live near DC, I pay my soul monthly in rent. If I didn't have to pay that much I would probably have some loan money left over to go. Sigh::
I am a dumbass. If I didn't suck at life, I would have signed up to volunteer at the World Expo in Shanghai. I'd be moving to China for the summer.
I really should be focusing on the now. Which is not failing this semester and graduating on time.

It is super stress time. It's the last month of school so I have tons of work to do. I need a job/internship. I need a new cheaper place to live. I need to plan the Asia trip. I need to pass my classes. I need a million dollars. It's all papers and projects and presentations from here on out. They canceled the summer class I wanted to take, so there goes getting ahead on my credit hours. I need to find a work from home job so I can move back home for the summer and save up some money. I need a rich husband.

R/Hr: I Ship It!
1. Ship
N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized in fanfiction circles.
V: To endorse a romantic relationship.
N: I see a 'ship developing between Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
V: I ship Ron/Hermione
Thanks, urban dictionary.
I literally just understood where 'ship' came from as I was typing relationSHIP. I am slow.

Are there any quiet/semi-quiet Starbucks in DC?? Also I don't understand how you can wear leggings as pants when its freezing out. DC tells me I better dress up and look presentable when I go out. oh, city life. so interesting.
I wanted mom to come shopping with me this weekend, but looks like snow is going to ruin that. thanks.
I finally got my refund check from financial aid. woot!.

ain't no shame in this game
Um, so I downloaded some Miley songs. And Taylor Swift. The last 10 books I read were young adult/independent reader novels. I'm obsessed with Legend of the Seeker. I am not ashamed of any of these things! Oh yeah look at that photoshop fantasy cheese goodness. Kahlan nom nom. I would read the books but I probably won't have time to in the next 2 years. yeahh.LIFE
life is hard, nerve-racking, and scary.
But you gotta do what you gotta do right?
Well at least you have to try.
I guess I need more guts.

grad school update! : My BA doesn't mean shizz
Okay, so first week of grad school update. It is weird being back on a campus, but it feels good because I am going to learn(hopefully) some interesting and practical stuff. I'm taking 3 classes that meet once a week and are 3 credits each(full-time). I already have reading out the butthole. Classes are pretty much discussion based and you have to lead discussions and give presentations and all that stuff. I feel the need to take a public speaking class or something. Maybe I will this summer if I have any money. Commuting to school is weird, but also means I can't be lazy. I signed up for Equality and Edu class, global and mulitcultural edu, and cross-cultural communications. I dropped out of the communications class because I hated the book we had to read, the class was all theoretical, and it had 30 ppl in it. It was an elective so I really wasn't going to pay to take it. I added a Training Program Design class that I haven't been to yet, so we'll see. It's a requirement so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Um, one of my professors called me out as Indian, so I'm really back in school.

I moved!
I moved into my room last night. The apartment is sweet, but my room pretty much only has my air mattress and my tv. Classes start tomorrow and I'm really nervous and anxious. I haven't been in a academic setting in a while, so I can't spell and I just feel generally dumb. Anyway I took the metro and then the shuttle to campus. Huge campus is huge. Or maybe just bigger than the smcm. I had my map and went walking/exploring/getting lost. I crossed the same street 3x trying to figure out which side the bus is going to stop on. I saw the bookstore, but could not find the door to get in. Major Fail. Since I have to read some book by next week I gotta find it tomorrow. My butt got frozen and my hands were numb so I called it a day. I didn't really find where my classes were going to be exactly, but I'll wing it tomorrow. Also, there's a McDonalds on campus. So there's that.
