我们分手吧: Let's break up
I was on forumosa (formosa/forum get it?!) researching and getting myself pumped. I stumbled across an interesting thread when searching through all the Shi-da(my school) posts.....
"Now for the bad news. As far as black women who have dated Taiwanese men, if I included myself, I could count the ones I know on two fingers. With foreigners, it doesn't seem to be much better. On the dating totem pole, black women don't even register above the grass. Believing that dating will happen for you, unless you are drop dead gorgeous, is almost like asking for an emotional kick in the teeth. Looks are heavily relied upon by many men here. If you don't catch their eye, you don't stand much of a chance. The easiest way to survive Taiwan is to write off your love life for your duration here."
"About a week ago I was getting on the MRT and there was a gorgeous black woman waiting for the train in the other direction. Git that I am I went and stood beside her like I was checking out the train schedule or something. Turns out she speaks beautiful Mandarin too and had a whole gang of Taiwanese guys hanging on her every word. God what a treat it was to even see somebody as awesome as that. Absolutely in the moment, happy and full of life."
"havent't been to this forum in a very long time. Imaniou, I am sorry you have had a bad experience dating here. I am black woman who is far from drop dead gorgeous and I have had no problems at all in the dating scene here.
I have had attention from Taiwanese, Japanese, Singaoporean and other Asian men here. I am now engaged to a Taiwanese man. I already PM'd Persephone my experiences. I just want to let other black women out here reading this know that they don't have to live like a nun while here. There are men Asian and otherwise who date black women here."

that can be discouraging. no doubt. I've heard worse though.
I haven't heard though is something like this:

heart station

I love utada. Today I am avoiding studying and instead filling my brain with the useless things on the internet. I really forgot how much I like this album. I used to listen to flavor of life everyday on the way to class in China. so good. Now I think I want to go back to the classics that we all know and love. I need a little simple and clean and passion action. Those beats are tight.

zhong, check out these boots
come on girls, get it together...
Son Dam Bi has been officially sent to ballad prissy hell. i.e. i only sing lame ass ballads. She went from Cry Eye (random title, but dancing in an aaliyah style), to Bad Boy(fun electrontic type beat, very catchy) to Invisible Person(soft lame ass ballad). As the "female bi" i was really excited to see what she was going to come up with. I figured after coming to the states to work on her dance moves id see some bomb ass sexy moves. But no apparently wearing baggy pants and dancing wasn't working so now we are singing ballads. Why does everyone i like or start to like disappointment by singing lame ballads??!!! sigh i thought she had potential too.

A New Hope
So, im watching a new hope and getting lost on wookiepedia. i was looking up people and i was on padme and i was reading"With the beginning of hostilities, Amidala's message of diplomacy and restraint was drowned out by the guns of war. She continued to find herself the target of Separatist assassins, which forced her to remain on the capital world. Amidala rarely saw her husband, Anakin Skywalker, who was constantly at the front line, leading clone troopers with Obi-Wan Kenobi. She maintained a secret correspondence with her husband, and, although she was thrilled about his exploits, Amidala also feared for his safety."
You know this sounds good and interesting, BUT in the movie it sucks. they are fake and whiny and no one can believe they're in love. i believe it when its written of wikipedia though. its so sad. there was so much potential. i mean it made FORBIDDEN LOVE suck!!
even though im not excited for the clone wars movie, i am excited for the live action series. i wanna learn about the formation of the rebel alliance!
international stalking

So lately i've been stalking pictures of Taipei/Taiwan and heres some of what i found today. They make me pretty excited.
There also seems to be plenty of bakeries and strawberry-shortcake so that sounds good. Also, I already know there's plenty of pocari sweat and calpis. I discovered there is a maid-cafe in taipei. I've never been to one, so im really excited.
This mixture of cultures might blow my mind. I'm so excited

DESTINY
How do I know that it's meant to be?

Takahisa Zeze's Moon Child (Japanese studio, filmed in Taipei, as the futuristic city of Mallepa) (drama)
Mallepa is Taipei.
That's how I know.
This is the general plan.
I'm heading to Taiwan. You know, that pretty big bomb ass island to the east of China. yeahhh that one. Please note it is the Republic of China NOT The People's Republic of China. I'm not gonna get into it though. Why Taiwan/Chinese/Asia?
I heart Chinese. I want to be fluent more than anything right now. I have to be immersed. I want to dream in Chinese again. I started watching Taiwanese dramas 2 years ago. East Asian Popular culture intrigues me to no end. Hence my SMP. Anyways I decided i was going somehow.
What are you gonna do there?
-I'll be in the Mandarin Training Center @ National Taiwan Normal University
-Being Awesome
-Eating Good Food
So I am deferring enrollment til the Winter quarter which starts Dec 1. I'll be looking to leave here end of Sept/beg. of October. Coming Back the end of May 09'...maybe. So for now i am studying for the GRE, apartment searching, and cheap airplane searching.
Also I realized I am going to a foreign country ALONE AGAIN. No one is going to help me find housing and settle in. Everything would be so much easier if someone was coming with me. hint hint ZHONG. sigh::: apartment searching a bajillion miles away is lame.

ps. seeing a blonde lady with trini accent is quite hilarious
In Trinidad we stayed with mom and kathy's next-door neighbors. Who are somehow related to us, as was everyone else on the street. The Sookdeo i.e. Grandpas side. Anyway they were really nice, apparently they visited us when i was in high school and we all watched bend it like beckham, but there was a span of time were there was a bunch of relatives visiting and i felt like i saw that movie 40 times.
Picture Post Next
The long way home

First thing about this trip is going to be a list of complaints about AA.
1. International flights out of Trinidad leads to really long fucking lines. Some AA asshole tells us that it doesn't matter what line we get in. good thing because we are in the semi-shorter business class line. 40 minutes later some bitch says that is ONLY for first class. so i get in the regular line and mom stays in the first class line. And it turns out it didn't matter. but the thought of waiting in that other line almost had me crying. IT WAS SOOOO LONG.
2. Mechcanical problems with the plane in Miami(twice) led to a 4 hour delay for us in Trinidad(so after all that line shit we still had to wait FOREVER)
3. Because of that we miss the last flight of the day out of Miami
4. Get hotel vouchers, but don't get to the hotel til 2:30AM
5. Have to get up at 5:45AM for our flight to Dallas and then Dulles
6. We get to Dallas and then taxi for like 20 mins. giving us only 10 minutes to get to the other side of the airport to catch the next flight, this involves catching a shuttle and running up escalators.
7. WE RUN UP TO THE GATE AND THE AA LADY TELLS US TO WAIT A MINUTE WHILE SHE MAKES A PHONE CALL. SHE THEN TELLS US WE NEED TO BE ON TIME because they close the door 5 mins before departure EVEN THOUGH SHE KNEW WE WERE ON A CONNECTING FLIGHT THAT JUST LANDED. RUDE NASTY BITCH.
8. So then we have to wait 2 extra hours to wait for the next flight.
9. So a day later we come home.
i will write about more pleasant things later promise.
also, i googled "American Airlines sucks" and thats what i found
